Frankfort Regional Medical Center

Frankfort Regional Medical Center, a comprehensive, full-service acute-care hospital, has provided Frankfort high standards of care for over 38 years.  Frankfort Regional represents the forefront of healthcare. Our commitment to healthcare technology and innovative new procedures is not new. We have been dedicated to finding better surgical procedures and to improving hospital systems for decades. Today and in the future, our hospital will be delivering care for babies born prematurely or those who need special care; improving outcomes and reducing recovery times; utilizing pharmacy automated dispensing units to ensure the proper and timely dispensing of medications, and using barcode scanning and electronic records technology to improve patient safety.

Frankfort Regional has continually focused on improving and expanding services for the region. Expansion efforts have included an $8.4 million renovation to the existing Emergency Department – increasing in both square footage and number of beds, a partnership with Kosair Children’s Hospital and University of Louisville for specialty pediatric care, an oncology nurse navigator program, level II neonatal intensive care unit, cardiac rehab program and wound care center.

Frankfort Regional also joined the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center affiliate network.  Through the partnership, patients now gain access to additional specialty and subspecialty physicians and care when needed, including clinical trials and advanced technology.

And we’re not finished. Our Emergency Department is working towards a designation as a Level III Trauma Center and our cancer program is advancing for an accreditation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

Frankfort Regional has also earned numerous honors and accolades, including:

About Frankfort

Frankfort’s location, Kentucky’s capital city, has helped make it prosperous. Frankfort is convenient to big-city attractions but retains its small-town flavor. Located almost halfway between the two metropolitan areas of Lexington (30 minutes away) and Louisville (1 hour away), it is a beautiful city with the Kentucky River flowing through it. The community enjoys the economic and cultural benefits of hosting major manufacturers, Kentucky State University, an active Convention Center and many locally owned businesses.

The area offers a wide variety of activities including cultural events, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing (about 2 hours away), hiking, and horseback riding. If horse racing is of interest, you will be happy to find two of the most prestigious racing tracks, Keeneland and Churchill Downs, located only minutes from Frankfort.

The community has it all: academics, business, cultural events, industry, yet captures a great hometown feeling. And Frankfort Regional is an extension of that wonderful sense of community.
